Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on an earnings call that the company expects to produce "several thousand" Optimus robots by the end of 2025. He said the robots will be used in Tesla's factories in order to "iron out the issues" before it starts manufacturing them for sale in 2026.

Musk said Tesla's energy business is growing "faster than anything else" and that the firm is ramping up production in its factory in the United States, as well as continuing work on building a factory in China that is expected to double or triple the company's output. Following Tesla's underwhelming second-quarter earnings, Musk insisted that "the future is incredibly bright" although he acknowledged the "massive undertaking" in progress.
