French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire (pictured) said on Tuesday that his government will ramp up efforts to introduce a so-called digital tax on big tech companies in the European Union.
"We are aware there are some technical issues and technical concerns, but these are technical concerns not political problems, so we still have three or four weeks before the next Ecofin (meeting of EU's finance ministers) to fix those technical issues," Le Maire said.
European Commission's proposal would target technology giants whose global revenues exceed €750 million, such as Google, Facebook and Apple, aiming to tax them in every country where their digital services are used.
