Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that his country would impose 25% tariffs on 155 billion Canadian dollars (around $107 billion) worth of US goods starting Tuesday if the US goes ahead with its planned tariffs on Canadian goods.

Canada will impose 25% tariffs on 30 billion Canadian dollars worth of US goods from Tuesday "and tariffs on the remaining $125 billion [Canadian dollars] on American products in 21 days' time," Trudeau said in a statement.

"Our tariffs will remain in place until the US trade action is withdrawn, and should US tariffs not cease, we are in active and ongoing discussions with provinces and territories to pursue several non-tariff measures," Trudeau said.
