Trump asks Congress Dems to pass USMCA soon

United States President asked Congress Democrats to work on passing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on trade before starting work on an infrastructure bill.

In a letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Trump wrote: "Before we get to infrastructure, it is my strong view that Congress should first pass the important and popular USMCA trade deal. ... Once Congress has passed USMCA, we should turn our attention to a bipartisan infrastructure package."

Pelosi stated earlier that Democrats are in talks with White House Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer. The Trump administration decided to lift tariffs for Canada and Mexico on metals after pressure from Congress.
