United States President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba held a phone conversation on Monday following the US decision to impose a 20% reciprocal tariff on Japanese goods last week.

Speaking to reporters after the call, Ishiba said he plans to visit Washington when the "timing is appropriate," while agreeing to delegate the negotiations to the relevant ministers in the meantime. Trump took to Truth Social to confirm Tokyo "is sending a top team to negotiate," claiming the country had treated the US "very poorly on Trade."

"Countries from all over the World are talking to us," he added, after urging the American public not to panic over the market spiraling down.
