United States President Donald Trump strongly denied allegations from the New York Times report that claimed he had been briefed on Russia allegedly offering rewards to Afghanistan militants in exchange for attacking US soldiers.
"Nobody briefed or told me, @VP Pence, or Chief of Staff @MarkMeadows about the so-called attacks on our troops in Afghanistan by Russians, as reported through an 'anonymous source' by the Fake News @nytimes. Everybody is denying it & there have not been many attacks on us. Nobody’s been tougher on Russia than the Trump Administration. With Corrupt Joe Biden & Obama, Russia had a field day, taking over important parts of Ukraine - Where's Hunter? Probably just another phony Times hit job, just like their failed Russia Hoax. Who is their 'source'?" Trump tweeted on Sunday.
The White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany already dismissed the claims, while Trump's presumptive opponent in November's presidential election Joe Biden took the opportunity to criticize the US president again for his alleged lack of action on the matter. Russia has also denied the story, as well as the representatives of the Taliban.
