Former United States President Donald Trump is facing over 30 counts in connection to business fraud, CNN reported, citing two unidentified sources with knowledge of the indictment against him.
In 2016, the Trump campaign allegedly documented controversial reimbursements to his former lawyer Michael Cohen as legal expenses. Cohen earlier paid $130,000 to a woman who supposedly had had an affair with Trump to keep the information secret.
Trump reacted to the indictment by accusing the Democrat-controlled Manhattan District Attorney's Office, which is leading the case, of doing US President Joe Biden's "dirty work."
