Trump says 'disrespect' for Israel must stop

United States President-elect Donald Trump promised on Wednesday that treating Israel “with such total disdain and disrespect” will stop once he is running the White House.

Addressing his Twitter followers, Trump said Israel “used to have a friend in the U.S., but not anymore,” and added: “The beginning of the end was the horrible Iran deal, and now this (U.N.)! Stay strong Israel, January 20th is fast approaching!”

Last week, Trump condemned a UN resolution which called Israel to stop creating settlements on Palestinian territory after the U.S. decided to abstain from voting instead of vetoing the decision.

The U.S. has long been Israel’s closest ally. Media in the U.S. has been speculating that one of the most influential people in the Trump transition team is the billionaire’s Jewish son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
