David DePape, the defendant who is accused of breaking into United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco residence and assaulting her husband Paul Pelosi in October, pleaded "not guilty" to the state's allegations on Wednesday, the Associated Press informed, citing prosecutors.
The 42-year-old suspect faces charges of attempted murder, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, following the attack on well-known American businessman, Paul Pelosi, as the offender is believed to have caused physical injuries with a hammer to Pelosi's 82-year-old husband.
DePape forfeited his right to a speedy trial when he appeared San Francisco Supreme Court today. He is due to return the court in February, when it is anticipated that a trial date will be determined.
