US President Donald Trump is expected to approve new reciprocal tariffs, but they will not take effect for several months, possibly starting on April 1, according to CNBC journalist Eamon Javers.
According to Javers, the announcement will be a presidential memorandum assigning the US Trade Representative (USTR) the task of developing the next steps. This approach differs from an executive order, indicating a more procedural initiation of the tariff implementation process.
Reciprocal tariffs involve imposing duties on imported goods at the same rate foreign nations levy on US exports.
