Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Monday and discussed his willingness to be a mediator between Moscow and Kiev amid the ongoing war between the two nations.
"President Erdogan confirmed that Turkey is ready to take on the role of moderator and mediator to establish a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine," a spokesperson from Erdogan's office said.
Erdogan previously offered his hand of support in the Ukraine crisis to work as a mediator and was also keen for the ceasefire during the Orthodox holidays to be extended.
