The United Kingdom's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.4% in May, according to a monthly estimate released by the country's Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Thursday. The growth was higher than analysts expected and came following a stagnation in April.
According to the report, the services sector contributed most to the expansion as it grew 0.3%, while production output increased by 0.2% in May and construction jumped 1.9%.
On a quarterly basis, the UK economy expanded by 0.9% in the three months to May compared to the three months to February, driven by a 1.1% rise in services output.
