Microsoft, Oracle reportedly eyeing TikTok purchase

EPA-EFE/CAROLINE BREHMAN

Microsoft Corporation and Oracle Corporation are allegedly considering acquiring TikTok, Charles Gasparino, Fox Business Network's senior correspondent, reported, citing investment bankers working with the two major tech companies.

The deal would have to include TikTok's so-called "source code," which generates content choices for users. Should the code not be included, the two companies would lose their alleged interest in the purchase, according to sources cited by Gasparino. "Unclear if the Chinese will allow that," Gasparino wrote.

TikTok currently faces a possible ban in the United States, which would disable its app store availability in the country. The TikTok ban bill will move forward to the US Senate following its recent approval by the US House of Representatives.
