United States Department of State spokesman Ned Price said on Tuesday that Washington is not asking other countries to choose between the US and China.
The American official made the comment when asked about a report that claimed that Saudi Arabia may opt for the Chinese yuan as a means of payment in oil transactions with the People's Republic, instead of the US dollar.
The US relationship with China is "competitive" and "collaborative when it can be" and "adversarial when it must be," Price noted.
