Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian stated on Friday, at a press conference, that the United States is profiting off of the energy crisis currently taking place on the European continent.
As a result of the prolonged war in Ukraine, Washington is reaping all the benefits, as the difference in gas prices between the US and Europe reached record levels, the spokesperson underlined, adding that the former could be making up to $100 million in windfall profits from individual shipments of liquified natural gas (LNG) to the European continent.
He warned that the sanctions the West has been imposing against Russia will not lead to solving the crisis in Ukraine, but will rather cause undesirable effects.
