United States President Joe Biden approved plans to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets, the Associated Press reported on Friday. F-16s are made in the US and are the preferred aircraft of the Ukrainian military. Meanwhile, Politico reported that the training program will be executed in Europe and "require months to complete," with anonymous officials hoping it can start in the coming weeks.
Sources also said Biden told his G7 allies that "when, how many, and who will provide" the jets to Ukraine will be decided in the next few months, parallel with the training program. A previous report suggested the US "will not object" to allies sending F-16s to Ukraine.
