US-Russia meeting in Saudi Arabia starts

Officials from the United States and Russia gathered in Saudi Arabia and started a closed meeting to discuss a potential ceasefire deal between Kiev and Moscow, TASS shared on Monday.

According to TASS, Saudi Arabian authorities asked journalists to leave the Ritz-Carlton Hotel premises where the two delegations are meeting. Russia's team is being led by the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin, and advisor to the director of the Federal Security Service, Sergey Beseda. Meanwhile, the US is being represented by Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg, White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Director of Policy Planning at the State Department Michael Anton.

Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov revealed that the talks between Kiev and Washington, which took place in Riyadh as well, were "productive and focused."
