Venezuela condemned in an official statement on Monday the recent confiscation of President Nicolas Maduro's airplane by the United States, calling it "piracy."
Caracas accused Washington of using "its economic and military power to intimidate and pressure states such as the Dominican Republic to serve as accomplices in its criminal acts," adding Washington "seeks to establish the law of the strongest, create norms that adjust to its interests and execute them with total impunity."
At the same time, the government in Caracas said it "reserves the right" to "take any legal action" in response to the seizure of Maduro's airplane, while adding it does not see the incident as an "isolated action" but a part of a larger "escalation" against the country. In its statement, the government said it would continue to pursue its "anti-imperialist" course and defend its sovereignty.
