Warner Bros. Discovery's stock popped nearly 7% on Thursday as news of Chris Licht departing the position of the chief executive officer of CNN boosted its parent company's shares to reach the highest level since April this year after the opening bell on Wall Street.
"I met with Chris and he will be leaving CNN," David Zaslav, chief executive of the Warner Bros. Discovery, told CNN employees the day before.
The shares of Warner Bros. Discovery surged 6.80% to sell $14.0100 apiece at 11:29 am ET.
