South Korea's ruling People Power Party Leader Han Dong-hoon (pictured center) asked the country's President Yoon Suk-yeol to lift the martial law he previously declared.

Speaking to the media at the National Assembly on the party's behalf, Han urged Yoon to "accept the National Assembly's opinion" and end the crisis "as soon as possible."

Yoon declared martial law to combat and eliminate North Korea's influence and factors operating in the country. The parliament passed legislation calling for lifting it, while the military reportedly said it will comply with the president's orders.
