Russia to kick off WSJ journalist's trial on June 26

The Sverdlovsk Regional Court said on Monday that it will begin the trial of Wall Street Journal reported Evan Gerhshkovich next week and stressed it will be held behind closed doors.

The court noted the trial will start on June 26 and that Judge Andrey Mineev will preside over the case.

Gershkovich was detained in March last year in Yekaterinburg on allegations of espionage on behalf of the United States. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, while the White House described Moscow's decision to arrest him as "ridiculous" and "unacceptable."
