An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 shook the southern coast of Peru at 5:36 UTC, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said on Friday.
The quake's epicenter was registered 8 kilometers west of Atiquipa, Arequipa. The earthquake hit at a depth of 28 kilometers.
No damage or injuries were reported. However, a tsunami warning was initiated.
