The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, also known as ADNOC, signed a 15-year-long agreement on the supply of liquefied natural gas with China's ENN Natural Gas Co. Ltd. subsidiary in Singapore on Wednesday.
The state-owned oil giant will commit to delivering at least 1 million metric tons per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the gas is expected to be sourced from ADNOC's Ruwais LNG project, a low-carbon initiative currently in progress, with shipments scheduled to commence in 2028.
"The Ruwais LNG project is set to be the first LNG export facility in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to run on clean power, making it one of the lowest carbon intensity LNG plants in the world," ADNOC underlined. The project is expected to double the LNG production to "meet increased global demand for natural gas."
