Ackman calls for 90-day tariff delay

EPA/ANDREW GOMBERT

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman urged the Trump administration on Monday to consider postponing reciprocal tariffs for 90 days.

"We pause reciprocal tariff implementation for 90 days so we have time to engage in private negotiations with other countries, focusing first on those whose tariffs and practices have materially interfered with the competitiveness of US manufactured goods in their markets," Ackman wrote in a post on X.

He further suggested that a 10% "across the board" tariff be kept "for the special privilege of doing business with the US." The billionaire remarked that the pressure on China should be upheld, until its "unfair trading practices, IP theft, currency manipulation, and other practices" have been eliminated.
