Amazon condemns FTC's 'false' accusations

EPA-EFE/JUSTIN LANE

Amazon.com Inc. slammed on Wednesday the United States Federal Trade Commission's lawsuit related to its Prime services and alleged customer deception, calling it "false on the facts and the law."

In a statement, the company said that its clients "love Prime," negating that the sign-up or cancellation processes are complicated and adding that they are rather "clear and simple."

Amazon expressed its dissatisfaction with the US regulator sharing that it is concerning "that the FTC announced this lawsuit without notice to us, in the midst of our discussions with FTC staff members to ensure they understand the facts, context, and legal issues, and before we were able to have a dialog with the commissioners themselves."
