Amazon.com Inc. closed a partnership deal with Grubhub Inc., adding restaurant delivery to its Prime services in the United States, allowing its members to use a "free, one-year Grubhub+ membership with no food-delivery fees on eligible orders," Amazon confirmed on Wednesday.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the country's largest e-commerce business is to become Just Eat Takeaway.com N.V small shareholder, while the Netherlands-based company confirmed that it will continue to be Grubhub's parent company while exploring a "full" or "partial sale" of the food-ordering company.
Just Eat revealed that Amazon has an initial option to take a 2% stake in US-based Grubhub, with the possibility of increasing its total stake to 15% based on performance metrics centered on bringing new customers.
