Amtrak CEO hails $1.2T infrastructure bill

EPA-EFE/SHAWN THEW

Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn in an interview with HBO celebrated a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill passing Congress, saying it will secure more funding than the country had in its "50 years of history combined."

The bill would provide $66 billion for passenger and freight rail aimed at modernizing the Northeast Corridor line and allowing Amtrak to develop new rail corridors.

The lower chamber of Congress adopted the bill on Friday in a 228-206 vote, sending it to President Joe Biden's desk for final approval, after the Senate had already voted in favor in August.
