United States President Donald Trump stressed on Monday that the European Union has no choice but to "buy energy from us" despite being "tough" and "very bad to us" concerning trade with the North American country, which propelled him to introduce a 20% duty on the bloc's exports.
Speaking at a meetup with the press at the Oval Office along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump insisted that "we have more energy than any country in the world." He also said that the tariffs he imposed will reduce a $350 billion deficit his country has with the EU. He also dismissed the idea behind the bloc of being a "monopoly" against the US.
Previously, Trump stated that he will not put a temporary suspension on the tariffs as it was reported earlier.
