Australian retail sales topped expectations to rise 1.6% month-on-month in March, according to a Wednesday report from the country's Bureau of Statistics.
Furthermore, Australia's monthly turnover amounted to $33.62 billion, and compared to March of 2021, climbed 9.4%.
The industry sectors that saw the biggest turnover in March were department stores and household goods retailing, while the most successful regions retail-wise were Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
