Australia's government canceled on Wednesday two deals signed between the country's second-most populous state, Victoria, and China as part of Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative.
The deals have been annulled as they were "inconsistent with Australia’s foreign policy or adverse to our foreign relations," Australia's Foreign Minister Marise Payne stated.
In response to China's massive Belt and Road Initiative, the United States, Japan and Australia joined forces in 2019 to form a similar infrastructure development project dubbed the Blue Dot Network.
