Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer acknowledged his party's defeat in the recent parliamentary elections.

The Austrian People's Party (OVP), led by Nehammer, lost to the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), which secured 29.2% of the vote. Nehammer addressed his supporters, stating, "Unfortunately, we did not come in first. But none of us should reproach ourselves."

The FPO's victory marks a significant moment, as they are projected to gain 57 seats in parliament, their strongest showing in history.
