German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (pictured left) said on Friday that a "purely military approach" will not resolve the Israel-Hamas conflict. "Last weekend showed that such a strategy endangers the lives of the remaining hostages," she said, referring to the six Israeli hostages whose bodies were found by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip.
Baerbock insisted on the need for a ceasefire at a press conference following a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz (pictured right) in Tel Aviv. She also urged Israel to "help calm the situation" in the West Bank and stop settlement projects, which are in violation of international law. She also condemned parts of the Israeli government that called for the invasion of the West Bank.
