United States President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that the US authorized an additional $800 million arms package for Ukraine.

Biden noted he informed his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky about his decision in today's phone call and noted the package will include "artillery systems, artillery rounds, and armored personnel carriers," as well as helicopters.

The US president added that America's assistance to Ukraine "helped ensure that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin failed in his initial war aims to conquer and control Ukraine."
