United States President Joe Biden reiterated the importance of his commitment to preschool funding, quoting first lady Jill Biden in warning that "any country that out-educates us is going to out-compete us."

Speaking at the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) virtual event to DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, Biden drew attention to the statistics that suggest that children who go to pre-kindergarten education are more likely to go on to finish all 12 years of schooling as well as higher education.

He also noted that the US is ranked far behind the leading nations of the OECD in early childhood education, remarking that increased investment is "long overdue."
