Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will be tried on coup charges, Brazil's Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday. In February, he was accused of conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2022 presidential election, including unrest in Brasilia in early 2023.
The court also decided that seven officials from Bolsonaro's government will stand trial with him, including five ministers. Bolsonaro is contesting the charges, although he admitted to considering "political alternatives for the nation."
