CDC cuts recommended COVID isolation period

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has shortened its recommended isolation time for COVID-19 positive individuals, regardless of their vaccination status, CDC director Rochelle Walensky announced.

The agency has decided to cut the recommended time from 10 to five days, as long as those infected are showing no symptoms.

"CDC's updated recommendations for isolation and quarantine balance what we know about the spread of the virus and the protection provided by vaccination and booster doses. These updates ensure people can safely continue their daily lives," Walensky said in a statement.
