French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said that Russia is "at an impasse" and that its international support is declining further. However, she told LCI that France needs to have a dialogue with Russia "to tell it to stop and respect its obligations as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council."
Colonna repeated that France is not seeking Russia's defeat but only "that its aggression is not victorious." she said there are currently no conditions for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. She said a precondition for negotiations is a phase of the war in which the "balance of power must be more favorable to Ukraine" and that Russia is showing no signs of willingness to move to that phase.
