The death toll in the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that shook Myanmar has reached 1,002, with an estimated 2,376 people injured, according to the country's military.
Earlier, the country's junta chief Min Aung Hlaing made a plea for global assistance, saying that he "would like to invite any country, any organization, or anyone in Myanmar to come and help," adding that he had "opened all ways for foreign aid."
The United States, the European Union have pledged support so far, along with China.
