Dow hits record close after inflation gauge report

Major indexes on Wall Street ended Friday's session in the green as investors digested the latest personal consumption expenditures (PCE) figures, the Fed's most-watched inflation gauge, which were in line with expectations.

The Dow Jones added 0.55% or 228 points to close at 41,563.08 and the S&P 500 rose 1.01%. Intel Corporation was the best performer on both indexes by soaring 9.49%. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 1.29% or 249 points as MongoDB Inc. skyrocketed by 18.34% a minute later.

The euro was down 0.21% against the dollar to go for 1.10539 at 3:59 pm ET.
