Outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their talks on Sunday that the Netherlands and Denmark will deliver the F-16 fighter jets to Kiev. The head of Ukraine welcomed the decision, calling it "historic, powerful and inspiring."
Rutte explained that once unspecified conditions have been met, the aircraft will be forwarded to Ukraine. The two officials were inspecting two F-16 jets in a hangar at the base during Zelensky's visit. Meanwhile, in a statement, Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that in partnership with the Netherlands, it will donate the equipment and train Ukraine's pilots.
Previously, Washington authorized the Netherlands and Denmark to send these fighter planes to Ukraine.
