The European Union needs to start preparations regarding customs in the eventuality of a hard Brexit, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs Pierre Moscovici told the France 2 television on Wednesday.
The commissioner added there won't be new negotiations before March 29 as hard Brexit risk increases significantly. "It is time now for the British to say what they want, now that they said what they don't want," Moscovici said.
"We have done everything we could do," the economist underlined, echoing European Chief Brexit Negotiator Michel Barnier's remarks after the United Kingdom House of Commons voted down Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit agreement by a margin of 242-391.
