European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday that the European Union is disbursing another €1.9 billion under the Ukraine Facility "to keep the Ukrainian state running as you fight for freedom." The EU pledged up to €50 billion to Ukraine between 2024 and 2027 to aid its "recovery, reconstruction and modernization efforts."

The announcement comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visits Brussels to sign bilateral security agreements. He stressed that the international pressure on Russia is not strong enough and insisted on the timely provision of military aid.
