Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan could discuss the Black Sea Grain Initiative with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian news outlet RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing a Turkish government source. The conversation would take place by phone after the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in which Erdogan is participating.
The source said Erdogan will likely talk to Putin upon returning to Turkey and after discussing the deal with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other leaders at the UNGA. The report claimed Erdogan will urge the UNGA to "move to concrete, practical steps to resume the initiative, emphasizing the fact that statements of support for Ankara’s efforts alone cannot move the process forward."
