Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed on Friday that it is the West, rather than Russia as his opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu claimed, that is "manipulating the elections" in his country.
"Now Kilicdaroglu is attacking [Vladimir] Putin and Russia. I won't say okay to this. Our relations with Russia aren't less important than the US," Erdogan stated. He also slammed United States President Joe Biden for saying earlier the US should support the Turkish opposition.
In 2020, a video of Biden surfaced that shows him saying that what the US "should be doing is taking a very different approach to him now, making it clear that we support opposition leadership." Biden, who was not yet in power at the time, added that Erdogan "must pay a price" for his treatment of Kurds.
