European stock exchanges were mostly lower at the close on Thursday after the European Central Bank opted for a larger than expected 0.5 percentage point interest rate hike and announced the details of its anti-fragmentation tool. Investors monitored ECB President Christine Lagarde's press conference and her comments on the outlook, recession, inflation, TPI and the next monetary policy meeting.
The DAX decreased by 0.27% at the close as HelloFresh dropped 14.03%. London's FTSE 100 closed 0.09% lower with its worst performer Harbour Energy down 5.20%. In Paris, the CAC 40 was up 0.27% at the end of trading with Publicis Groupe rising 5.20%.
The euro was 0.14% higher than the dollar, selling for 1.01943 at 5:29 pm CET, while the pound lost 0.09% compared to the greenback, buying 1.19575 concurrently.
