Major European stock markets were down in the premarket trade on Friday as the earnings season slowed down. A new batch of data from the United Kingdom showed its economy grew by 0.2% in the second quarter, slightly higher than predicted, industrial production increased by 1.8% in June, while the trade deficit narrowed slightly.
The DAX lost 0.39% at 8:04 am CET, the FTSE 100 was down by 0.15%, the CAC 400 decreased by 0.28%, and the EU STOXX 50 dropped 0.49%.
The euro traded 0.10% higher compared to the dollar and went for 1.09911 at 8:05 am CET, while the pound traded 0.22% higher against the dollar, selling for 1.27058.
