Major stock exchanges in Europe traded lower at the open on Wednesday as investors anticipated the Eurostat's final report on the euro area inflation in February. Meanwhile, the focus is also on the United States Federal Reserve which will share its latest interest rate decision and economic projections later in the day.
The DAX tumbled 0.75% at the opening bell, with Porsche down 1.40% at 9:01 am CET. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell 0.49% at 9:00 am CET, as BBVA Bank shed 2.83% at 9:02 am CET. The CAC 40 started with a 0.17% loss, with STMicroelectronics declining 1.15% at 9:02 am CET. The FTSE 100 began the session trading 0.25% lower, as Compass Group decreased 2.93% at 9:03 am CET.
The euro was 0.49% below the dollar at 8:59 am CET, going for 1.08914. At the same time, the pound fell 0.24% against the greenback, selling at 1.29719.
