The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Thursday in a post on X that its forces attacked a total of three cruise missiles in the Red Sea, allegedly owned by the Houthis militias before they were launched against vessels.

The strikes happened on Wednesday night against two mobile anti-ship cruise missiles and one mobile land attack cruise missile. According to the US command, "these missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen" imposed "an imminent threat to US Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region" and the strikes were done to "protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer."

Earlier, the command reported that Yemen-based Houthis launched six anti-ship ballistic missiles in the direction of the Southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
