Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated on Monday that his country is willing to extend further mediation that Iran and Pakistan may need to solve the tensions that arose in the previous days after both sides conducted airstrikes on militant targets in each other's territory.
During a press conference, Wenbin said Beijing is open to participating in easing the situation and stressed that it maintains close communication with Iran and Pakistan which "are friendly neighbors, and are also good friends of China."
"China has always been committed to maintaining regional and international peace and stability … We are also willing to continue to play a positive and constructive role in improving relations between the two countries based on the needs of Iran and Pakistan," Wenbin noted.
