The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said on Wednesday it will meet the deadline for its trial against Amazon.com Inc. after previously asking the judge for a delay, and claimed its attorney was "wrong" in his statements about insufficient resources.
"The commission does not have resource constraints and we are fully prepared to litigate this case," FTC's attorney, Jonathan Cohen, said in a letter, adding that "the FTC will meet whatever schedule and deadlines the court sets."
The attorney previously asked the United States District Judge John Chun for a delay on the September 22 date for the trial against Amazon, where the tech giant is accused of deceiving customers into subscribing to its Prime membership without consent. Cohen cited "resource constraints" as the reason for the request.
